Dr Gary Hawkins
Dr. Gary J. Hawkins has twenty-three years of experience with cellular, wireless broadband and satellite systems, focusing on areas such as product marketing, business development, technology evaluation, contract negotiation and project management. Gary has worked with most wireless technologies including WiMAX, GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, 1xEV-DO and DARS relating to radio access equipment, subscriber-side device solutions, distributed coverage systems, network deployment and radio planning.
Gary joined Celergy Networks in April 2009 to help facilitate the expansion of Celergy’s wireless business interests beyond enterprise solutions into other wireless verticals including the deployment of smart grid communications technologies and wide area wireless networks. He has been very active defining requirements around smart grid communications networks and has been a key contributor to several consortiums bidding on smart grid funding.
Prior to joining Celergy Networks, Gary was Vice President Product Management – Infrastructure with NextWave Wireless. While at NextWave Wireless, Gary was the lead point of contact between NextWave and a number of third party infrastructure vendors, including Huawei Technologies, which were implementing NextWave’s unique WiMAX MXtv technology. Prior to NextWave, Gary held senior positions with a number of companies including Littlefeet, LCC International and Orange PCS.
Dr. Hawkins received his Ph.D. in Satellite Communications from the University of Bristol, England and his BSc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath, England. He is recognized as a Chartered Engineer by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK."
Martin W Greenwood
Martin W Greenwood has 25 years’ experience in the telecom sector, having been Chief Designer for Nokia’s cellular base stations and later Systems Marketing Manager for complete systems where he handled the game-changing $200M+ deal towards O2 (now Telefonica). Through subsequent COO and GM positions, he established cellular data company Symmetry Communications in Europe and built it to $20M, managed growth and subsequent trade sale of design house Symbionics for $65M, and oversaw the turn-around and trade sale of telecom systems vendor Zenitel UK. He has founded a start-up integrating WiFi into GPRS and 3G services (sold to Intel) and has most recently been providing mobile TV services at international sporting events. Martin was awarded his top-ranking engineering Masters degree from University of Cambridge, England.
As Executive Vice President for Celergy’s Smart Energy business, Martin provides a strong combination of all-round technical skills and knowledge, as well as many years’ experience in the commercial provision and management of technical client services.
